Learn how to 'De-Hypnotise' your clients and help them more effectively with issues such as anxiety, depression chronic pain and trauma by helping them see through the psychological illusion it is based upon.
Jørgen Rasmussen shares his methods of effective therapeutic change and how to become a more effective agent of change and in this workshop you will:
Drawing on over 20 years of therapeutic practice, Jørgen Rasmussen shares his approach to therapeutic change and his experiences working with difficult or ‘impossible’ clients. This has resulted in him simplifying his approach and going back to the first principles of change. This has led him to develop what he terms the ‘psychological illusion model’ of change work. He also shares his discovery about how many therapists can become more effective by getting out of their own way.
Stop people from 'hypnotising' themselves into problems!
It could be argued that hypnosis is about getting someone to fully absorb themselves into an imagined story…
HOWEVER
Surely, one could argue they were falling for some very unhelpful "self-hypnosis"?
What if there was a way to pull back the curtain for people and help them discover deep insights about the way they have been hypnotising themselves?
What if you could ruin the illusion of their self-hypnosis in such a way that they no longer got absorbed into any of these unhelpful stories?
Jørgen's Psychological Illusion Model provides a way of doing this……
Jørgen believes that almost all psychological suffering is the result of people falling for some simple psychological illusions and misunderstandings.
“This is my conclusion after twenty seven years of full time practice, eight of them running an ‘impossibles practice’ where I would work with people who had not succeeded in various form of therapy, and did so with a no change no pay policy.”
Imagine walking in the desert, suddenly you see a snake in front of you. Immediately, your heart begins to pound, your palms get sweaty, the mouth gets dry, and you have catastrophic thinking about being bitten. Imagine that you able to stop and take a closer look….and when you do so , you realise that there is no snake….its JUST A ROPE.
The moment you see that the snake is a rope its game over, you have seen through a psychological illusion. All the physiological responses subside just from seeing through the psychological illusion.
Jørgen believes what people call mental illness such as depression anxiety, phobias, compulsions, PTSD and trauma etc. are mostly just variations of seeing a snake where there really is just a rope.
The psychological illusion model of hypnosis and change work is an elegant and systematic way of using thought experiments, hypnotic phenomena, games and stories to help people penetrate the illusions that are behind their unnecessary suffering.
The model has been developed through twenty years of client work plus intense explorations of various schools of hypnosis, classic and new code NLP, rational emotive behaviour therapy, developmental psychology, the three principles and both progressive and direct paths of meditation.
Jørgen is convinced that:
"Working in this way is the easiest, fastest and most generative way I have found to work with most clients most of the time".
In the workshop Jørgen will also describe another aspect of therapeutic work that is extremely important yet often gets overlooked in much formal therapeutic training. This is the therapists’ own mindset and beliefs. Jørgen believes that many therapists and coaches are often doing a second job that the client isn’t paying them to do.
From extensive experience as a therapist and a mentor to other therapists, Jørgen believes that many therapists ‘get in their own way’ and as well as focussing on the client, it’s as if they take on a second job of maintaining their own self image, and worrying about their own insecurities and beliefs. This takes up essential ‘bandwidth’ and can make a therapist anxious and preoccupied. Jørgen will teach how you can overcome this obstacle and reduce these tendencies and stay more present in the therapeutic setting where you can operate from flow states and be more fearless in your approach. One analogy Jørgen provides is that of ‘being hypnotic instead of just doing hypnosis’.
The Psychological Illusion Model is constantly evolving as Jørgen, and others using the model, refine following real word use. In this training Jørgen will share his very latest thinking and experience of using the remarkably effective approach.
Unlike many workshops, where you only see things demonstrated in the physical or virtual classroom context, this programme gives you the opportunity to see Jorgen working with real clients. This provides a unique and often overlooked perspective as it is acknowledged that working with real life clients entails a different dynamic and can be more unpredictable and require the ability to adapt, troubleshoot and adjust to whatever arises.
Please complete the form below if you are interested in forthcoming Psychological Illusion Model (PIM) workshops with Jorgen. Booking will open on 1st of December with an offer for those who register beforehand.
We welcome people who are entirely new to PIM as well as those who want to return for an update and refresh on Jorgen's evolving PIM model (we also offer a discount for people doing a refresh).
Anyone serious about leading their clients towards meaningful and lasting change should consider training with Jørgen Rasmussen. And it goes without saying that Pete Dalton is hosting one of the best platforms for change workers through Aether and Alchemy, making it an excellent resource for professionals in the field.
