What if the sense of “me” you’ve always taken for granted isn’t what you think it is?
What if anxiety, insecurity, or the drive to improve yourself are all symptoms of a deeper, mistaken assumption—that there is a thing called a self at the center of your experience?
This 10-week online masterclass with Jørgen Rasmussen is an invitation to take a radically different kind of journey. One not aimed solely at self-development… but at seeing through the illusion of the self altogether.
“It’s one thing to intellectually realise there’s no self. It’s something else entirely to have a felt shift in perception - to see it directly, and know it in your bones.”
Rather than simply talking about spiritual ideas or psychological theories, this course is about direct, lived insight. The kind of shift that doesn’t just change your mind—but changes what you take yourself to be.
Jørgen writes:
“Most of our thinking is self referential. Most of our psychological suffering revolves around the seemingly permanent, stable, and separate self these thoughts and feelings seem to imply and revolve around.
So many of our conflicts, goals, and deeper fears have to do with self-deficiency stories. As the late psychiatrist Thomas Szasz used to say: “A friendship is two people who have agreed to uphold each others mythologies.”
But there is no such thing as a self. It’s an illusion.
It’s one thing to know this intellectually. It’s something else entirely to have an embodied realisation, and experience an actual shift in perception.
The intent behind this 10 session masterclass is to help you have an actual insight into the self being an illusion. To not only see it, but to experience an actual shift
If you know it intellectually, but can’t really feel it yet, this is the course for you".
This isn’t just another meditation course. It’s a facilitated perceptual inquiry, designed to help you:
People have their own insights and awakenings and it is possible that you might experience some or all of the following:
Many courses talk about the self. This one helps you see through it.
Rather than offering abstract theories or general mindfulness techniques, this masterclass is designed to guide participants toward a felt shift—a direct experiential insight that the self, as we commonly perceive it, is an illusion.
Each week includes live, interactive sessions where Jørgen will aim to guide at least one participant through this perceptual shift, using methods honed over decades of teaching, mentoring, and one-to-one client work. Even witnessing this in others can catalyse your own insight.
"In each session I will do my best to help at least one person experience this insight live. Not only will you get a chance to work with me live, but you will learn indirectly by watching and getting absorbed into other participants’ sessions as well. Getting to not only experience yourself but watch live awakening sessions is so valuable due to the troubleshooting element. It often takes some trial and error for someone to have an actual shift. Everyone is different, and as the saying goes, its different strokes for different folks."
The sessions will combine awakening sessions, guided meditations, philosophical discussions, and troubleshooting.
You will be exposed to so many different angles and ways of pointing towards this illusion that there is a good chance that something will resonate for you.
You will get a collection of guided meditations to use between sessions, as well as group hypnosis sessions where the intent is to use suggestion artistry to help the process along.
Jørgen often asks his clients:
“When do you feel most like yourself?”
People typically answer with moments of peace, flow, or connection. Ironically, those are the moments when the “selfing” process is least active.
The very times we say “I wasn’t myself” are often when the self-story is loudest.
This paradox is at the heart of the work: to see that the self is a process, not a thing—and that what you really are has never depended on it.
This is a highly experiential course, designed to meet participants at different stages of their inquiry.
Each week includes:
This masterclass is ideal for:
However, please note that there are also many pitfalls on this journey and ways to get stuck.
Some might get overwhelmed with emotions as the very same defences that keep the self illusion going begin to break down. Others may experience a crisis of nihilism, or deep despair around topics such as free will and agency.
As this can be a quite ‘destructive process’ it’s not for the faint of heart. Given that it can be a bumpy ride It is only recommended that you join his journey if you truly are a truth seeker and want to know the truth no matter what.
If you are very emotionally unstable to begin with you might want to get some help with that first. And I don’t recommend doing this course unless you have developed a sense of an adult psychological self over time -essentially, you are psychologically and adult and have healthy boundaries and are not steeped in victimhood.
If you satisfy the above criteria then seeing through this very illusion may very well be the most important and fulfilling thing you can do.
For some reason much of awakening and meditation industry seems to have embraced a lot of outdated psychological concepts, most of which are not supported by modern psychological science and findings.
This includes notions such as repression. So many teachers teach their students that they have repressed memories and repressed emotions. Other teach that ‘the body keeps the score’ and that the body stores memories and traumas and that these need to be resolved as part of the process.
Not only is the evidence behind these claims very weak. These notions often do more harm than good.
This course is not trauma informed. It’s not based in the claims of the trauma industrial complex. Neither does it push old psychodynamic theories of repressed memories and repressed emotions.
Instead, we do our best to use updated psychological maps which correspond with current research into memory, social psychology, and the role of suggestion.
The programme will run over ten sessions which will take place at 6:30pm UK time and will last approximately 90 minutes. The sessions will take place on the following dates:
23rd and 30th September; 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th October, 4th, 11th, 18th and 23rd November.
If you’ve ever felt that there’s something not quite right about the “I” at the center of your life story—this course is for you.
Come ready to explore. Come ready to question. Come ready to see through.
