Join us for an amazing 12 months of immersive, fun and effective training. The Provocative Change Works model is constantly evolving, especially in recent years with the online trainings across the globe. PCW certifications are offered to students who understand the model and ability to demonstrate the model in real life. Although PCW has an influence from Frank Farrelly’s classic Provocative Therapy, the model is not confined simply to therapeutic and coaching use and is equally effective in business and personal development contexts.
Here's just a summary of what this amazing programme is all about. The training:
This is the only currently planned online PCW certification training.
When you book on, you get the following over the 12 month programme:
* Should you not be able to make a particular session you will be provided with access to the recording of the session so you don't miss out.
While it is possible to attend the programme without going for certification, we are aware that many people will want to work towards certification. If you are interested in becoming an official Certified PCW Practitioner (or Advanced PCW Practitioner) then this training will provide the opportunity for you to so.
Nick Kemp, creator of PCW writes:
"I’m keen that all certifications are not box ticking exercises or simply certifications of attendance, but rather represent genuine skill development. Frank Farrelly would always say “Show me the evidence” and therefore those wanting to become PCW Practitioners and Advanced PCW Practitioners will be expected to submit case studies in order for certification".
"This training detailed below is an opportunity for people to study for a PCW Practitioner or Advanced PCW Practitioner. The attendance of the live trainings is the core of these certifications along with live group practice and the 1 – 1 deep dive sessions with me".
Previous trainings and 1 – 1 sessions will be taken into account as credits for those seeking certification. All certifications will be given on the basis of merit in regard to understanding of the model and the ability to demonstrate using the model in live situations as well as the submission of client case studies.
Those seeking advanced PCW practitioner status will already have PCW practitioner certifications and be given leading group roles and other unexpected challenges for the duration of this training plus invites to additional master classes with Nick throughout the year.
The programme comprises 4 modules consisting of three workshops with Nick as well as homework, resources and practice sessions throughout.

Provocative Change Works consists of three approaches to shift clients from “a stuck state” to a more fluid state, allowing for greater freedom and choice. This elegant conversational way of working requires the practitioner to pay close attention to client responses, whilst maintaining their own excellent state control.
These three approaches are:
The PCW practitioner deliberately provokes (calls forth responses from) the client by adopting different discrete stances, which stimulate the client into new ways of thinking and feeling. The practitioner seeks out resistances in the client and then approaches most what the client seeks to avoid in the discussion, and identifies the client’s “blind spots”, using a great deal of humour and by working in an improvised manner. This means “running suggestions up the flagpole” and seeing if the client responds. The practitioner creates the movement in the session and can be talking for large sections of the interaction which is very different to many other talk therapy approaches.
Great use is made of “sensory rich language”, and the full expression of this, to engage the client, and thus take them on a journey outside their existing beliefs and experience, to a new sense of freedom. The practitioner works in a multi layered way without the limitations of some conventions found in many talk therapy approaches, such as removing the impression of “formal therapy as much as possible from the interaction. The key attitude of interacting as if chatting to an old friend means that the practitioner quickly creates real rapport with the client and the client often discusses the issue as it is rather than how they believe “they should respond” in this clinical situation.
Many witnessing this style of working can be initially quite surprised at the amount of energy, fun and honesty that results from this approach. This makes the client session very much like any interaction between old friends where each person may interrupt the other, tease the other, wander off the point and behave in other ways which typify such encounters. This apparent freedom is of course underpinned by all the ethical and professional principles of good clinical practice. The benefit of this is that one can have warm caring and human interactions, which enables the client to find their own solutions from a new and useful state.
A big influence on the development of Provocative Change Works was Frank Farrelly who Nick knew personally. PCW incorporates elements of Frank's traditional Provocative Therapy as well as including a range of additional approaches within the PCW model.
The term provocation in PCW is often misunderstood. In this clip below Nick explains what provocation means in the context of PCW and how it is used.

We have had great feedback on the PCW trainings we have run. People get a lot out of it and often come back to develop their skills further. Here are just a selection of the great things that have been said about PCW and Nick.
“Do you know Nick Kemp? – (he is) exceptionally bright, and I have immensely enjoyed communicating…The kind of exchanges that I have been having… are the kind of activities that I think can really advance the field. He has modeled two different simple processes which are part of his Provocative Change Works™ set of tools for working with anxiety and other strong emotions that I have found enormously useful in working with clients. He has also modeled the different patterns in Frank Farrelly’s Provocative Therapy so that they are easy to learn. In addition, he is everything you might wish for in a colleague – available, creative, and eager to discuss ideas and learn as well as teach.”
Steve Andreas, NLP Developer and Author
"You are totally disarming and beyond formalisation. There is an ease and naturalness about you and you make people relax really quickly. You got the power man!”
Frank Farrelly on Nick Kemp (June 16th 2006)
“Nick Kemp makes Provocative Therapy accessible to NLP trained coaches and therapists. My recommendation is to get his DVD set from the workshop in Boulder Colorado, watch DVD number 6 – an excellent example of what can be done – and then go back to the beginning and learn how he does it. You may be surprised how much of NLP already depends on provocation! “
Richard Bolstad, International NLP Trainer, Psychotherapist
“Unassuming and yet beneath that quite persona there is a depth of knowledge and integrity. Very likable and easily approachable, Nick has that magical knack of making people feel good and his methodology is so easily understood that his workshops are refreshingly effective. I will recommend Nick to anyone wanting to have the tools for a better life.”
Dr A Abraham, India
“I have known Nick Kemp for a number of years as both personal friend and mentor… no one has done more to promote Frank Farrelly and his highly effective treatment modality of “Provocative Therapy” than Nick Kemp. In 2004 when both myself and Nick met Frank Farrelly for the first time, the only readily available material was the classic 1973 book, “Provocative Therapy.” Since that meeting, Nick and Frank have become firm friends and there is no doubt the rest of us have benefitted enormously from this unique relationship. Now with numerous audio and DVD training products produced and promoted by Nick Kemp, Frank Farrelly’s work is more readily accessible than ever before.
Andrew T Austin, Therapist and Author
With this is mind, I had the very great pleasure of attending Nick’s first “Provocative Change Works” course in Leeds. Having extensively studied Provocative Therapy and seen Frank work one-to-one sessions live with clients on several occasions, I was astonished at the level of expertise demonstrated on the stage. I have no doubt that with his modelling skills, Nick Kemp has managed to “get” the PT model in its entirety. Watching Nick interact with his clients left me in no doubt that he is the very embodiment of Frank’s humour, wit, skill and flexibility. I suspect that anyone familiar with Frank Farrelly’s style of working will get that spine tingling sense of familiarity when watching Nick work and that the mantle of Frank’s ground breaking work has truely found its lineage, and his experience and dedication to detail makes him one of the best trainers and change work therapists in the UK today.”
“I’ve been studying the PCW model with Nick for a while now and the more I learn the more I understand the nuance and skill of this approach. Initially it can seem almost random and hard to judge what is going on. But having worked with clients utilising this approach I have found it highly effective and brings about significant shifts in how they think about their problem.
Brooke Hender Hypnotherapist
Nick himself is a very generous man, who is genuinely interested in sharing what he has learnt, and sharing his experiences with others. If you’re curious about discovering a different approach to your skills then I highly recommend attending one of his courses.”
If you are interested in joining use for what promises to be an exciting 12 month programme and have questions before committing then Nick writes:
